Privacy Policy
numolve is a free maths website and app with calculators and video lessons for students in Class 1 to 12. We keep data collection to a minimum. You do not need an account to use the calculators, worksheets and free lessons, and we do not ask for your phone number or location. An account is only needed if you choose to buy numolve Plus.
Accounts and numolve Plus
If you sign in, you use your Google account. Google tells us your name, your email address and a unique Google ID. We do not receive your Google password. We store this information together with whether you have a Plus plan, your plan dates and your Razorpay subscription number. We use it only to recognise you and to switch Plus on or off.
Payments are taken by Razorpay. Your card, UPI or bank details go directly to Razorpay and are never seen or stored by us. Razorpay and Google process data under their own privacy policies. Our account records are kept with our database provider (Upstash) and our host (Vercel).
You can ask us to delete your account and the records we hold about you at any time by writing to the contact address below. If you have an active plan, cancel it first on the numolve Plus page so that it stops renewing.
What stays on your device
Calculations are worked out in your browser or app. Your notebook, recent work and settings (such as the class level you chose) are saved in your device's local storage. We do not receive them, and you can remove them by clearing the site data in your browser or app settings.
AI Tutor
When you ask the AI Tutor a question, the text of your question, the earlier messages in that chat and the class level you selected are sent to our server and then to Anthropic, which provides the Claude AI model that writes the answer. We do not save the conversation, and we do not link it to a name or account. Please do not type personal details such as your full name, address, phone number or school into the tutor. Anthropic processes the text under its own privacy policy (anthropic.com/privacy).
If you choose to enter your own Anthropic API key, it is saved only on your device if you tick "remember", and your questions then go directly from your device to Anthropic.
Scan a Photo
Text in a photo is read on your device. The picture is not uploaded to us. The reader downloads its language files from a public content delivery network the first time you use it.
Voice input
If you use voice input, your browser or phone's own speech recognition service listens and turns your speech into text. That service is run by your browser or device maker (for example Google in Chrome) and has its own privacy policy. numolve does not receive or store your audio.
Videos
Some lessons play from numolve.com. Others play from YouTube using the privacy-enhanced embed (youtube-nocookie.com). When you press play on a YouTube video, YouTube may store cookies or similar identifiers on your device, as described in Google's privacy policy.
Hosting and technical data
numolve is hosted on Vercel. Like most web hosts, Vercel and our content providers (such as Google Fonts and cdnjs) may receive technical data when a page loads, such as your IP address, device type and the time of the request, to deliver the page and keep it secure. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell or share personal information.
Children
numolve is made for students of all ages, including children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Free use needs no account, and the app has no ads and no chat with other users. Accounts and numolve Plus purchases are meant for adults, such as parents and teachers, and children should not buy Plus without a parent or guardian. Parents and teachers should supervise use of the AI Tutor and remind children not to share personal details.
Your choices
You can use every calculator without the AI Tutor, voice input or photo scanning. You can clear all locally stored data at any time from your browser or app settings.
Changes to this policy
If we change how numolve handles data, we will update this page and the date above.
